Description:
This workshop will provide a basic overview of the anatomy of the hand, arm, shoulder, and neck focusing on the muscle groups frequently used by sign language interpreters during their work. The presenter will review common conditions that interpreters encounter and some massage techniques that can help mitigate their effects. During the session, folks will practice some of these massage techniques on themselves and each other including using some props provided by the instructor such as lacrosse balls, D20s, and tennis balls. Participants will leave with a packet of information about self massage techniques that they can continue to use in their professional practice.
